Today we post haphazardly, free-for-all, without regard. We belive that it will be without consequence. We think that somehow the government or the ISP's will protect us from this evil that lurks, this evil that we feed and that we are a part of.

This proclaimed evil sustains our economy, our wellbeing and our very existence. Who are we to tempt fate, who are we to say I can do what I want with this but no one can do anything without my approval.

On the Internet, if you post you play and if you play you pay.

This is not a world where you can run around writing your phone number on every bathroom wall and expect the phone company to protect you from the ugly people who might call. To only let the good looking rich wholesome people call. This is a world where if you put it out there any one can and will pick it up and use it to their advantage.

Granted, if someone was to call you 3 times a day with threats and lies then you have recourse, legal, moral and ethical. If you are harrased in this manner you should take every avenue out there to stop it.

The odd caller, ad in the odd email that is received by your negligence and thoughtlessness is not the fault of the advertiser but of you and you alone. After all you posted your email address, not the company that is mailing you.

The simple fact of the matter sums up in one statement. If you post your email anywhere on the internet people will read it, and people will use it. If they use it in a manner you do not like it is only because you placed it out there.

This does not mean that you don't have recourse though. This clearly does not mean that you have to deal with it either.
